Can I use CIS330 digital box with pvr 7150?

I currently have 1 pvr (7150) and 3 digital box (7100). I would like to purchase a used cis 330 and use it in my kitchen. Would this box work with my existing setup? I just want to watch tv and don't really need pvr function. Thanks.

Providing you have a network cable in your kitchen to attach to your CIS330 want to purchase it will work.

As long as you don’t mind the slow performance of the CIS330. I wouldn’t pay more then $20 for it.

I have a coaxial cable tv jack. Can I just plug the cable box into this jack?

Depends if Optik was set up / connected in your place to use coax. If yes, then it should work in theory.

Most installers will only connect coax jacks in the home that are required for existing boxes. If you've never had a set top box running off that jack then it probably won't work. If your modem is a T3200 then you would also need a Moca adapter use that coax jack which is something the installers supply. The best way to connect your own 330 box is to connect it directly back to your modem using a cat5 network cable going in to any of the yellow LAN ports on the modem.

The CIS330 would need the T2200 or older for the coax to possibly work directly. The 330s won't work with the newer T3200 without a separate MoCA adapter for the 330.

Now I'm not sure if the installer would have normally disconnected the coax as it enters the home to prevent interference or not, but the T2200 would need to be connected to coax and then the CIS330. In that order. It may work without a technician visit but there's no absolute guarantee. If the CIS330 gets stuck on the Initializing screen, I'd say call for a tech to come out. Don't reboot the 330 more than once or twice if it's stuck initializing or you may brick it. (gears followed by a red X on screen)

If you are on Fibre the box should auto register to your account when you first connect it but you will probably need to contact them so it bills as a customer-owned box instead of an additional rental at $5 per month. If you are not on Fibre your box will require a registration code which you can get by calling in and requesting they add a customer-owned box to your Optik profile.

One thing to be wary of is that box may have been a previous rental that a customer never returned and the MAC address might still be active on the back end which makes the situation more complex but its still possible.
