Blue Jays in 4K

delksnitis
Friendly Neighbour
Last year all Blue Jays games aired in 4K on Sportsnet, however the opener yesterday did not and it appears tonight's game isn't either.

Will this be coming back at some point this year? Why the change?

Thanks!

The games that aired in 4K last season were the home games specifically. Rogers only has 4K recording and broadcast facilities in Toronto. The content on Sportsnet is controlled by Rogers so if they broadcast in 4K, assuming no technical issues, it should be available in 4K.

The game tonight vs the Yankees is listed on Sportsnet's website as appearing to be in 4k. >> https://www.sportsnet.ca/schedule/

Sorry yes I meant all home games. The Sportsnet website indeed says the game will aired on SN4K, but the listings on my PVR disagree.

The game yesterday afternoon was on the 4K channel but not in 4K resolution, given the listings currently say "no live 4K event currently scheduled" I expect the same for tonight. All games for the Yankees series are home games.

Only thing I can think of is either the guide is using a generic description for the game from another Sportsnet channel and it will be in 4K, or Rogers/Sportsnet may not be broadcasting the game in 4K due to some possible technical issue.

Broadcast appears to be in 4K today, so that's an improvement. Guide is still incorrect but I can live with that.

Has there been any update to the guides yet for 4k games?

The listing appeared correct yesterday, though the usual mention of the next scheduled 4k broadcast wasn't there prior.

what is the difference in a 4K and an HD broadcast?  I haven't seen any live broadcasts in 4K, just the demo recordings at TV stores.
