That technology won't have anything to do with Telus or any telecom company. It also won't be out for years, if not more than a decade, if ever. The first thing they'll need to do is get it past all the regulators in the US which will take years in itself. That's assuming the technology is even at a point where they can even submit it. I doubt it is even close.
In order to get it to work, you'll need to make your house a giant metal box or at least one room in it that the wireless charging will be in. Renovations in the lower mainland are expensive and metal is even more so. Most people won't be able to afford that. The example built room they created for this has the transmitter as a pole down the centre of the room. Most houses that just wouldn't work.
Regular wireless charging is not efficient and you basically throw out up to a third of your money using it compared to wired. The new one has efficiency as low as 40% so you'd lose up to 60% of the cost of the electricity for that. Not worth it at this point.
