BlackBerry discontinued support for all of their devices on January 4, 2022, and the network infrastructure that supported most handset connectivity has been shut down. Any legacy BlackBerry devices that are running BlackBerry OS will no longer function reliably as a result. BlackBerry OS 10 and later devices may retain some functionality, but they remain unsupported by BlackBerry and their operation cannot be guaranteed into the future.
Announced back in 2016, Blackberry has shifted its focus entirely towards becoming a software company. They agreed in 2017 to continue to support its legacy services for at least two more years, and the time has come for their aging infrastructure to be shut down.
