Terrible service

Why do I pay this company $80 a month for a fraction of my mere 1GB?
Ridiculous service. I have 3 bars in my own room too.

Is this common among other phone companies? I never experienced this with Rogers.
I've been with Telus for a little over a year and haven't been happy once with the service I'm paying for.

I was a little bit confused by your post. Are you unhappy with the price of the service or the reception? Indoors, 3 bars of service isn't bad.

If it's the price, that's a tough one. It sounds like you signed a contract. You will always end up paying more, no matter what provider you are with, if you lock yourself into a term agreement. I've been urging all my friends and family to save their pennies and just buy their smartphones outright. It ends up saving you a few hundred dollars over the lifespan of the device because you are then eligible for the BYOD discounts.

At the end of the day, if you realy aren't happy, I suggest you find another provider. There are a ton of options now, especially when you look at the sub-brands.

While some folks have 3 bars in their room, I have to settle with only a six-pack in the 'fridge.  Smiley Wink

If you are unhappy with signal strength contact someone from Telus to make sure all of the settings are correct on the account side. Signal is affected by a number of reasons including concrete walls etc that is why the lastest spectrum auction that just ended was so important because it will allow a higher quality signal to be available in those type of conditions

Second thing I could recommend is to purchase a signal booster which I myself have thought about doing several times due to lots of concrete walls and only one bar of service. You can help document this low signal by downloading the Telus Network Experience app to your device and sending reports.

If you are on Twitter contact the amazing folks at @telussupport to see if any adjustments can be made. I hope this helps.
