Stacking Add On for Prepaid

It looks like there is no way to add more data add on until the current data add on expires. I am looking to purchase additional data after I have used the current 30 dollar data within a month.

Is it just me or the system were design to be like that? I am willing to pay more but telus is not allowing me to do so ?!

That is indeed the way it works. You can have only one add-on of any particular type at a time.
You can have minutes, texts and data add-ons, but only one of any specific add-on.

What if I require more data?

You can:

  • buy an additional data add-on once the first is consumed.
  • buy a base plan plus an add-on. Staggering the dates may be a benefit, as the base plan and the add-on won't simultaneously expire.
  • pay the $0.15 / MB rate for overages until the end of the 30 day period
  • pay the $0.15 /MB rate between add-ons
  • choose a post-paid plan with greater options

If you describe a use case, we would be better able to offer suggestions.

I am in favor of first option, however, from your previous post explained, the addon cannot be stacked. Therefore, I won't be able to add anything even after data is total consumed. I will still need to wait until it expires. Is this a glitch?

Have you tried adding an additional data add-on of the same or different value?

I have trying to add the same one but it won't have the same option available until 30 day expire. However, I am able to add the 25 dollar for 500 mb, but then it would be a waste of money if i know I am going to use another 1gb and with just 5 dollar, I could have got the same deal.

So, the second method you is availabe, however this also mean the total number of gb I could buy for a visitor from other country visiting Vancouver within 2 weeks time is only 1.6 gb? and they need to spend about 30+25+10=65 dollar for only 1.6gb and knowing that, it will be their limit and cannot add more?

(30 for 1gb, 25, for 500mb, 10 for 100mb)

According to the link I posted, you should be able to 'stack' them, by making multiple transactions. You will have to ensure enough credits are in your account to make multiple purchases, and you have to confirm (and complete) your purchase after each selection, then start over with a fresh purchase. There is no option to buy more than one of the same in a single transaction. If you are not able to buy more than one within a 30 day period, I suggest calling Telus to learn why their help page does not match the process you have experienced. You could also buy data 3 weeks before they arrive, and have it automatically renew halfway through their visit. This would give them 2 GB of data during their stay.

If you are purchasing data for a visitor who needs more than these provide, have a look at Public Mobile. You can buy as much as 6 GB of data for as little as $80. It has the same coverage as Telus, as it runs on their network.
