Signed up with Telus in Edm in March, basic low cost plan, use cell only for emergencies. Since then receiving non-stop messages from 1-866-887-0747 (and one other number) & have deleted dozens & dozens & dozens. Internet search of no. & Telus shows these guys do this to many others. Collections agency, whatever, real jerks. My friend got similar calls for weeks and she didn't even have Telus.
I was on Solo Mobility/Bell for yrs and NEVER got these or similar robo-calls.
So what can Telus do to stop this nonsense. How come it affects Telus, never did Solo/Bell? Thanks you.

Unfortunately, Telus is not the arbiter of scam callers, and there is little that they can do. In addition, as is dead simple for such callers to spoof another company's (or person's) number, there is no real way for Telus to block any number, as they could well be blocking a legitimate number, and then be liable for damages.

Actually, if they are a collections agency, the Do Not Call list rules won't apply.
If the collection agency that is rumored to be linked to that toll free number is correct and the stories on the internet are true, they will call from any number they can even for really outdated debt (over 10 years). If the debt is not yours or they're calling the wrong person, consider getting the cops involved if they're being harassing, else block the number on your phone.

Thanks. They're total scam creeps like the ones who call you up and say your computer is infected and they can help. I've never had a bad debt in my life. I'd ask Telus for another number but have no faith in there numbers seeing as I never ran against this issue with another provider. Wonder if they can give me my old number I had with Solo back? Then I could ID that's it's Telus's issue even if they can do nil about it.

Just because your old number was not on their calling list and your new one is, does not make it a carrier issue. Getting a different number could well remove the calls to you. Unfortunately you can not get your old number back at this point, though you could have ported it to Telus at the time you changed carriers.
I have 3 Telus numbers (had 4) and receive no such calls on any of them.

Thanks. Lucky you about no crap calls. Changed to Telus on spur of the moment when helping senior pal get new phone at Telus store. I just mass delete all the calls as only 2 folks have my cell no. +Telus. But it's major pain in the butt hearing all those calls come in night and day.

Thanks, appreciate it. I've registered the number on Canada's Do Not Call list but suspect it won't deter them because they're running scams. Unfortunately, I have a basic plan and basic cell - Alcatel A392CC - and I don't think I can block numbers.

This is nasty, I know. I called, I emailed, I complained directly to companies, sent proper Consumer Protection forms declaring I was the wrong person. They kept calling. I changed my numbers from drop menus, only to get more and more calls, most often for Telus debts.
When I got tired of changing numbers and blocking to little purpose, given they'd still leave messages, on my husband's phone I had his voicemail disabled, and then the calls stopped. I enabled his voicemail again after a year, and the calls returned the next day. I disabled, and they stopped. Getting no answer will stop them, but why they return so quickly, I don't know. Some apps said they blocked calls so they won't go to VM, but I had no luck with them.
I needed my voicemail, so I called into my shop and asked for help. My SA started looking through stuff, humming and mumbling, and then he gasped, literally almost choked himself. He was so awesome! But now I have the most beautiful Asian-friendly number in the world! It's been about four years and not one scam or debt call. I paid 35.00, I think, for that help by phone. I don't know if I can call it a customized number given I didn't customize it. I just got lucky. I don't know if Telus still lets you customize numbers, ask though, as that might be a way to go. They'll charge you though. Koodo used to customize for free.
