When will the Slocan Valley have sevice? I understand only one tower is needed for the dead air space.

Possibly when the local residents cease challenging Telus over the installation of cellular infrastructure in the area.

If you can get all your friends to add to a suggestion in the Ideas section, it will add support to such an installation.

You can see coverage here, and most of the cell towers here. As you can surmise, a number of towers would be necessary to cover the area between Slocan Park, and Silverton, and up to Retallack.

Do you have anything more recent than an 8 year old article, about that?

There are towers at South Slocan and Nakusp, then nothing until Revelstoke. For the space in between, more than one tower will likely be needed. Likely one at either end of the lake or a higher powered one in the middle. Terrain is a big factor. People not wanting towers, as @NFtoBC linked to, also doesn't help.

@TwitchyPuppy since the tower was approved a very long time ago and still not yet installed, I'd suspect there is a good chance that vocal minority is still fighting against the tower installation.

@TwitchyPuppy

In areas with small populations and expensive installs, the communities clamouring for service will receive it before those opposed. See this recent refusal.

@NFtoBC is absolutely correct. In our city there was a small vocal group against a tower (a specific area) to greatly improve reception. At the end of the day, Telus could not improve the service area. Everyone was stuck with marginal service in that area.
