Galaxy S8 no LTE with Telus, poor bluetooth and bad GPS

Today I met a person who had a Galaxy S8 in my area so I ask him how he appreciates his phone. Great surprise when he tells me that his spouse is telling him that he does not answer to her call. The problem? He never got the call. I have the same problem from the very beginning. Sometime, I don't get the call but I have new voicemail. One day, I called me 3 times and I the phone never ring. When I called Telus to understand, the person told me to wait, that there would be an update and until the update then it would be better to connect only to the 4G. Since, I have not missed call (hard to know but I expect that) but the GPS is really bad. It moves alone, gives the wrong directions. Without LTE the GPS is really bad. Now I have problems with bluetooth, the songs play jerky. Do you have the same kinds of problems? Is it normal to pay a phone about 1000$ to use only a few features? Do you think Telus can trade my phone for a other one?

You are not the first with this experience as an owner of a Galaxy S8.  If within 15 days, you can return he phone for another. Beyond that period, you need to send it for repair, under the manufacturer's warranty.

Hi NFtoBC!

I'm sure it's not the phone. I look on the Internet and I have not seen anything about it. No one has those problem. Why in my city, 2 people having the same problem on the same network with the same phone? I'm pretty sure that Telus had a problem with one of their tower around here.

Poor GPS will be the phone itself. Bluetooth could be the phone or the device it's connecting to. Only phone I've had with really good GPS is my iPhone 7. Works well without any cell service at all.

My S6 had issues with poor reception because their new antenna design was flawed. S7 was an improvement but it still had some issues. GPS on any of my android phones has never been able to match the iPhone yet in terms of accuracy and reliability.

@Nighthawk It was working really well with my S7. Since I desactivate LTE the GPS is bad. Maybe with the LTE it will be good but I have to make a choice. Have every call or have a GPS...

@NFtoBC It seem that Telus having trouble with GS8. There is no usual error with the caller. One day, I call my cellphone 3 times and the phone never rang. I leave a voicemail and my phone said I got a new voicemail in a few second. (still no missing call on my phone) Telus said they got problem with GS6 and GS8. Maybe because they put a lot of stuff on the firmware that make the cellphone really bad. If I trade it, I'll not take an other GS8 because Telus can handle it...

If the issue is with a tower, or the network, then why ask for a replacement phone?

If the network is overloaded (unlikely) then calls may not go through, but there is usually an error message played to the caller.  My suspicion is that if it were a network issue, more folks would be asking about it, but I have seen a number of questions about various Galaxy phones missing calls, including the S8, so you are not alone.
