Agreement Renewal

My contract will be up soon, but since my initial agreement was signed prior to the  maximum 2 year agreement policy change, am I now required to switch to a new plan?

Thanks.

Going month-to-month also gives you the breating room to decide if a new phone is really necessary, rather than getting caught in the "gotta have a new phone" mindset. If you keep your existing phone, call Telus and see if they will grant you the Bring Your Own Device discount on your current plan (never hurts to try! ) Also you can purchase a new phone at full price, and keep your current plan if you like it. This may be a better deal than the new plans.

I went MTM when my previous contract expired, and waited until a suitable deal came available.

You stay with your 3 year plan.

When that 3 year plan expires, you can even go month to month and hopefully keep your current good plan.

If you got a subsidized phone at start of contract, there are many places that have replacement battery available. Since the original battery is probably nearing end of life.

Telus will have 'offers', currently in your mobility account pages(log in) for your perusal.

A new contract, means new  plans that are different from your current plan.

@Landofu_Chan If you can hold out, I suggest keeping your month to month status. With the new rate plans that all the carriers have, keeping your current plan will likely cost you a lot less money, some of which you can use to purchase an unsubsidized phone when/if you see one you can't live without. 🙂

Im in the same boat, which I think is absolutly horrible. I have been with them for 12 years and they wont let me renew with old plan. I my self rather pay a contract Price for a phone then 800.00 out right.

This is only going to make Google (Nexus Phones) and others to sell unlocked phones for cheaper Prices.

We are being taken for big time with the big three charging what ever they want .

If you pay a contract price for a phone, you get a new contract. You actually expect decent unlocked phones to get cheaper? The entire industry is price fixed. As for the Nexus 5, the prices the carriers charge for them ($500) is much higher than buying the same phone from Google direct ($350).

A lot of unlocked phones will not work properly with all carriers in North America either. Some LTE ones will only work on Rogers and not Telus/Bell. That includes the iPhone.
