10GB PLAN for $60 and phone upgrade question?

Jonny123
Neighbour

I got the 10GB plan but paying $85 because of a phone upgrade. I also had to pay an upfront fee for the phone as well. My question is after the 2 years and the phone is paid off will the plan revert back to $60? I am basically paying $25 more a month but that is too pay the phone off ($600 over 2 years). If the plan won't revert back to $60 after the 2 years then its better to buy a phone out right and pay $60 a month. I can't get a hold of TELUS online chat and I can't even get through on *611.

The BYOD 10GB for $60 is not a shared data plan. Each phone would have NON shareable data of 10gb per device.

As stated your device balance have to be paid off first.

I wish I could have replied sooner, but I just signed up with Telus yesterday and saw this post today.

After 2 yrs (24 months) you will remain on the same plan paying $85/month getting the 10GB. So do not think that your price will drop to $60 at the end of the term.

To put things in perspective, I did the math on getting an iPhone X (256GB) with the $85/month plan, you save $229 plus taxes on a 2-yr contract.

But after 2 yrs, assuming there are no better plans and you stay on this 10GB plan (still paying $85), you would have lost your savings after 3 months ($85 x 3 = $255).

Also, you are free to leave this plan if something better comes out or whenever you want.

Just buy your phone outright and stick to the $60 plan!

Hi everyone,

I've heard/seen conflicting info as to whether this offer will last in perpetuity, or whether it will be done in 24 months. I see Rogers' (along with Koodo) have made theirs permanent. Does anyone know? Thanks!

AFAIK, both Koodo’s and Telus’ offerings continue until you change your plan. Some others were offering a 5 + 5 GB bonus for 24 months.

I have a 2 yr active contract with 11 months remaining. I'd like to upgrade from my current plan to the 10gb plan. How can I go about this? I've been on hold with customer service for 30 mins so far after having the phone number hang up on my 18 times. I'm a patient person but that was pretty frustrating. Hoping to upgrade this today.

I don't think you can get that deal, my understanding is if you are on contract you are not eligible unless you are willing to buy out the remaining time on your contract.

If you think waiting on hold for 30 minutes is bad be prepared to have your patience tested.

Well it's snowing beyond all belief where I am today and I can't get to work because of accidents and road closures so luckily I can just put my phone on speaker and go about my day while I wait for someone to answer. Telus has always been very good to me. I'm sure there is something they can do.

Someone from Telus can answer this for me. I was on hold last night for two hours trying to get through to change my plan over to the 10gig $60/month and eventually was cut off! What is that ? Will you still be honoring the plan to people that were on hold all night but cut off?

I have been on hold for up to 4 hours with the same enquiry!  I am so frustrated.  I realize that there is a high volume, but make this loyalty $60 plan offered by other carriers available on line! I want an answer before switching. My contract is done!  I'm so frustrated!

Rumour it ends today based on chatter around various articles on the web like all the other carriers.

Don’t have a device balance you can get the promo.

I've been sitting in the queue for hours now and I am stalled at number 792.  It's not moving, and you can't refresh it.

Can't call *611 cause it just gets dropped...

...So what happens if I can't call in and I miss out on this deal Telus?

Why didn't this show up in my "Offers" section?  I own my phone outright...if you wanted to keep me as a customer...perhaps this would have been a great idea?

I had that happen a few times.

Called Bell, got through, I am now a Bell customer.

If i'm disconnected one more time that will be my next call..... Telus has always had the worst customer service but this goes beyond crap!
