Why wont any retailers sell me a Z30?

I have tried 4 locations in the Vancouver area and no one will sell me a Z30 Outright. Why have an outright price if no one will sell it?

This happens with all newly released phones. iPhone can take 3 to 6 months.

Telus makes a lot more money by selling it to you on contract so they want to have one for when that person walks in. In about 2~ weeks the initial demand will die down and you can buy it.
