Why does TELUS charge for incoming texts

Why do they charge for incoming text messages while roaming? That's 1 thing that's is very annoying should be changed and I'm sure it affects why some customers choose other carriers.
For ex: Bell and Rogers and others do NOT charge for incoming text messages which is a big bill saver. By leaving Cellular Data and Data roaming OFF there goes your data charges worry. As by having free incoming texts roaming is not a worry as now the user is on control about there charges as if they don't want to answer they won't get charged for anything also if you decline phone calls there's no charge ether.
I don't understand why people use Airplane mode as it was specifically created for airplanes not roaming lol.
As working in the telecomm industry for over 20 years and travelling around the world I haven't had 1 bill over $30 by going pay per use with no plans. As people's Original phone # should be very important to them and not always changing them.. The only time I would go with a local sim if I'm staying longer than 5 months.

Yes 0.75 SENT not recieved. On both bell and rogers and many other carriers it's free incoming. Also this is what it says Roaming rates without one of the above roaming offers is $1.45/min and $0.75/text sent. Also, if your domestic plan does not include text messaging, there is an additional charge of $0.20 per received text message. All of the above prices do not include applicable taxes. .

So that means incoming is free As most people have a domestic texting plan.

I looked at both Bell and Rogers websites.  Both state unlimited incoming text messages IF you purchase a travel add-on as stated on Roam Mobility.

No I contacted office president about this and they said in there email and Bell goes by the same thing and fido.

"Thank you for your email correspondence, my name is Paulina from the
Rogers Management Office."
If you do not purchase a Travel package you will receive a Welcome
Aboard message advising of the Pay Per Use rate for postpaid service.
The following rates would apply;
Voice - $1.45 per min
Sent Text Messages - 75¢ per text
Received Text Messages - No charge

Hmm.... looking at Rogers it states 75cents a text message.  On Roam Mobility it states it's incoming and outgoing texts.

Same thing with Bell

It's unlimited if you set up a US travel pass.... same as Telus.  However, Telus charges you 60 cents instead of 75...

Roam Mobility has false info on there website as if u read the fine print on each carriers website it's free incoming.
Bell says this: When you send a text message from US you'll be charged $0.75 for each message sent.* Text messages you send in the U.S. are pay-per-use and are not included in your rate plan. Text messages you receive in the U.S. are charged the same way they are when you’re in Canada (i.e., messages included in your bundle are free and messages outside your bundle are $0.20 each).

That means as well it's free incoming. On Roam Mobility they got it wrong under the incoming section.
