I *just* received my update. Hooray!

How do you like it so far?

Well I haven't used it for more than an hour yet, but things I notice:
- Some of my widgets needed to be re-added
- Google now widget is larger (double height)
- Dialer seems different. I disliked the previous one and I certainly dislike this one. I can't manage my list very well.
- It seems a bit faster. Camera is a little quicker to load and to snap.

Very good point about the dialer! I think I may hold off on doing this update myself.

Thumbs up-froek: Finally you got the expected (Android OS - 4.4.3 in your Nexus.5) I just asked that question in the [(AlanTELUS' Post) About, Customer feedback-Online device simulators] When would be released, he didn't answer it. Luckily 2-top contributors, came up with useful replies, thks guys.
It calledMe the attention that all of a sudden 'Froek' get the (update - 4.4.3) the controversy here's why. Telus mobility team, doesn't publish in the forum, what cause these isolated updates. When the SGs4.s5 + HTC 1'M8'.,etc, gonna get it. If all these Phones are powered by "Android-System" Why only 1Model get the update.
Transparency is the key issue here. Hey! 'froek' I got an SGs4-curious, how did you get it. Do Telus provided a "Link" through a text/SMS or you went to. [Settings >Tap more > About device >Software update >Check for updates >Ok + 'Bingo' yo got it. Share the procedure with us. Comments are welcome...<Regards> "v9"

@-froe: Thanks for answer at my inquiry, appreciated. The objective here's to keep informed the "Forum membership" that have phones, operated by the (Android System & waiting for the update 4.4.3 ) to be released for all the models. So far we only hear rumors that, will be delivered in batches, but nothing official.
Thanks for sharing the way, you got this update installed in your Nexus.5 . They notify you that a System update, was available. Great news!. At the end you said, I'd be happier if carriers, wasn't part of the updates. Well sooner, we'll be able to do it by the <Click of a button> Keep in touch 'froe' Bye from "v9"

v9, if Samsung deems older devices worthy of the update, "Check for updates" in your settings is the best way. If your S4 model is GT-9506A, Samsung is reportedly still testing it.
One huge thing you need to know about Android is that the version the manufacturers include on their devices (Samsung, HTC etc) isn't pure stock Android. The extreme majority all have customized versions that support the wide variety of hardware on the devices (CPU, camera, sound, LTE/3G/AWS/WDCMA etc). Most manufacturers also don't support their devices with new Android releases for more than a year if you're lucky so not all devices get updates. Some never offer updates (common if you buy cheap Android devices, especially tablets).
Android usage stats from Google:
14.9% are running Android 2.3.3 > 2.3.7
12.3% are running Android 4.0.3 > 4.0.4
29.0% are running Android 4.1.x
19.1% are running Andriod 4.2.x
10.3% are running Android 4.3
13.6% are running Android 4.4
If Google released an update, the manufacturer of a phone would get it fairly fast. Then the manufacturer has to put in all their customizations (UI, hardware support and drivers, etc), test it thoroughly and then release it for specific devices. Once the manufacturer releases it, eventually the mobility providers with that specific model of phone will get it. I don't know if they do any in house testing or not before releasing to the subscribers. They hopefully will release it without a lot of delay but some are weeks or months behind others.
Apple on the other hand releases an update direct to their users. No waiting for manufacturers or cell companies.

Nighthawk is bang on regarding custom UI etc (I would have replied more but I was on my ipad in bed).
xray - I should ask the xda devs to see how I can get that firmware image on mine, or re-route mine to talk to google servers. I suspect I'll need a new firmware image.

Fresh images. Lots of custom versions too
May void warranty.
