Having trouble using the voice command on their samsung galaxy s II X, keep on getting error message "can't connect"

Do you have an internet connection on the device? All of the standard voice command (or voice to text) apps require an internet connection, as they connect to the internet to process the audio.

everything else is working on the phone.

Try taking the battery out, letting it sit for 2 - 3 minutes, and try it again. If it still doesn't work after this, try connecting to wi-fi and doing it. And if that doesn't work, if your Android Version isn't 4.x then download Samsung Kies and update it. If it is, then take it into a store and get a new phone 😉 haha hope that helps!
