Was thinking of purchasing a used iPhone 4s that is locked to Telus and was wondering if the phone can be unlocked and if so what the cost would be? I am not currently a Telus customer.

Hi, for TELUS to be able to unlock your device you need to :

1-have an active account with them

2-device needs to be used on their network for at least 90 days

3-there is then a $35 unlock fee

I hope it helps.

You can ask the original owner of the phone to have it unlocked with Telus first as a condition of sale.  I've requested this to the owner when I purchased an used iPhone from this person.

If going after the original owner is not realistic. I've found cell phone repair facilities offering to do it as well.

At least they know how not to give you an iBrick afterwards.

I didn't have an unlocking experience with Telus customer. But i unlocked my Telus locked iphone 4s with a help of online unlocking service provider like Unlock-Zone.com  and got  free unlock instructions from MobileUnlockGuide.com  They charged $ 131.74 US Dollars
