Unlocking an iPhone 4G knowing that the contract is over

Hello,

My uncle, who lives in Canada, came here to Lebanon for a month vacation. He has his old iPhone 4G with him and would like to use it here. Knowing that this iPhone is locked, he could not do anything about it. And since he is not really a computer friendly person he asked me to take care of it.

His contract with this iPhone is over and he bought from your company an HTX one.

Is there an easy way to unlock this phone? and do i have to pay for it?

Thank you for your help i hope i didn't left out any information.

P.S. : The iPhone's ID number or whatever you call it is: 012644009586216

Hi, in order to have a device unlocked you need to have an open account with TELUS. The device needs to be active for 90 days on our network before TELUS can unlock it for $35.

Here's more details,

You should contact Telus directly or by Twitter or Facebook.

Hi Ka,

Were you able to do that without the 90 day restriction? I'm in the same boat but in Australia. My friend gave me his phone so I don't have a contract with Telus.

I believe the OP indicated the phone owner still had a contract with telus, but  with a recently upgraded phone. That may make the difference, as the phone was owned and in contract for greater than 90 days, and it was the owner of the phone requesting the unlock.
