Software Update Schedule Discussion

Very professionally done. You should really remove this page and put 'updates to come to Android phones one day, we're not really sure when.' I think I will be switching phones to the nexus devices to actually get updates faster than this half a snail's pace. The Telus experience is not one I'm impressed with. Makes me consider switching providers.

There seems to be an error above as the Alcatel Idol 3 (5.5") seems to be listed twice with different dates.

Now, idol3 not listed at all 😞

now that Alcatel has begun sending 6.0.1 to unlocked US phones, will Telus be putting the phone back on the update schedule?

We've had to revise the date but we'll be updating our schedule with the new date shortly 🙂

@sanayp Edited. Thanks!

My BlackBerry Z10 is currently running OS 10.3.2.2474. When can we expect 10.3.2.2876?

Thanks,

Shane.

I wonder if the June security update for the s7/s7 edge will be released this month!

Alcatel did just release Marshmallow for UNLOCKED Idol 3s in the States. No mention of when carrier locked ones will get it, or Canada.

Why isn't the s7 receiving it's monthly updates just like the nexus 6p and blackberry priv? Samsung releases the firmware and telus is responsible for testing and releasing it. Ughhh

Hey @Malek777,

It is currently at the discretion of the OEM whether or not they roll-out monthly security patches. We have received word from Samsung that they do expect an update next month that will likely bundle the June & July security updates.

Keep an eye on the software update schedule for the latest dates. Smiley Happy

A newer update always builds up on the one before that. There is no such thing as bundling security updates. That defeats the purpose. The only reason here is that the carrier does not find it feasible to work on patches every month. Too bad there is a lack of courtesy to the customer to simply admit that, or to provide the option to switch to the Samsung update channel.

Telus probably isn't even aware of the battery drain on the current Galaxy S7 build.

No battery drain for me on my S7 using the latest software.

You should probably check your battery details then.

I did, nothing is wrong. It's just android system is high on the list after the April update. Hopefully will get fixed soon

Sorry, meant to quote Nighthawk.

Telus has finally delivered on the update. Great news for the s7 😊👍👍👍

Well, that's good to hear. I am surprised. Thank you TELUS. What's the first verdict Malek?

Received marshmallow of the idol3 today. Phone seems snappier. Now Waiting for the s7 edge update to address the battery drain.

Can the forum moderator confirm that the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active, Note 3 and the Galaxy Tab A are not being up graded higher than android 5.00 so I can go forward with installing a custom firmware as the continual bugs, lack of security updates and extremely poor battery life in version 5.00 are irritating i am tired of having to deal with them.  The Samsung hardware is excellent only the firmware does not meet good quality.

No s7 updates on the horizon I'm fairly confused on how blackberry can manage to push updates faster than samsung when the s7 has been the best selling phone in canada. I'm not sure if Telus is stalling or samsung. Samsung has already released the firmware internationally. The US carriers are already pushing the update but the big three are stuck in April. Quite disappointing.
