You might want to look at actual science - instead of falling victim to conspiracy theories...

I wonder why S20s are missing from the update cycle list. Telus, can you clarify this please.

I haven't seen any updates posted with other carriers for the S20 since the one in March. Which update are you looking for?

S20s update schedule is missing from this list, it was there at the beginning of the month and now it's gone

I never saw it in the list myself. If it was there as you say, it's entirely possible the update was pulled if there were problems. None of the other carriers have listed pending updates for the S20 at this time either so it may be something that's affecting more than just Telus.

All the Canadian Carriers use the exact same Firmware (other than the CSC) So if it's been delayed for one - It's delayed for all of them.
Advisor

i myself am using an s9+ and i haven't seen an update since feb 2020 and this is going on 3 months behind on security updates

Coach
Not sure why Telus completely removed s20 update schedule from their webpage. The last update which is March security update was there and now it's gone. I guess we can ways flash generic Canadian software and not bother with bloatware. And Telus let's not bundle Facebook and other junk with the phones, I am sure you can say to Samsung not to include them. I don't have time to be removing all this using ADB command.
Connector
Well sure you can Flash any Canadian Carrier's Firmware - But there isn't any May Firmware from ANY other Canadian Carrier to Flash RN. As for the bloat - Samsung / Carriers get paid to include it - So good luck with getting them to stop... But it is a lot better than a few years ago... So there's that.
Coach
Looks like list has been updated and now s20 is back on that list.

Any idea why Telus or any of the Canadian carriers don't have the camera upgrade as well? All the us carriers are getting it in believe

I don't know about you guys but i refuse to buy a new phone every year i have a phone that took me 2 years to just start using s9+ plus i still have a iphone 7 plus 128Gb still in the box brand new i used it twice and didn't like that i couldn't store music on it the way i could with the samsung so until both these phones are in the state of unusable i am not buying a new phone, i thought about trading one in but i am not on a contract and don't want another 2 year contract i just got my bill down to a reasonable amount per month with customer retention's i don't want it to go up without a secure job at this stage....i am still awaiting security updates for my s9+ which i haven't received since Feb 2020 and the iphone is currently running IOS 13.5, so unless a company makes an unremarkable phone that intrigues me i an not upgrading especially now i heard TELUS and Bell dropped Hauwei 5g...

well look at this i complained about not getting even a security update and June 3,2020 3pm checked Nothing, just before i went to bed 11:15pm and there was an update not sure if it was forgotten during the so-called pandemic but i currently have G965WVLS7DTE1/G965W0YV7DTE1/G965WVLS7DTE1

SECURITY PATCH LEVEL: MAY1,2020 couldn't bring it to current but closer than Feb 2020

Any update to the schedule coming?

Last date on the list is Sept 8 and the list was last updated Sept 11... so seems like there should some house-cleaning to the list at the very least as July updates that were surpassed by August/Sept updates are kinda pointless now. 🤔

..... or perhaps to acknowledge that the updates aren't... being... uodated. 🤨

Been noticing for a while Telus, Koodo, Rogers and Fido were lagging behind, now it's just Telus and Koodo of late it seems.

Dunno what's going on. OEM's being lazy, carriers can't be bothered, or a combination of both?

That's why I'm starting despise Android more and more, just never know where you are going to stand on the update front. Truly expected things to be better by now especially heading into 2021 but if perception is indicative of where things are headed, I'd say it's getting worse.

So 2 weeks later, and still no update to the schedule? 🤨

Can we expect the September security updates from Samsung to be available from Telus in the next coupla days just like Rogers, or would that be expecting even more than the simple act of refreshing the update schedule? 🤔

Will it make it to a full month past the last update on the list with no refresh? Place your bets. 🥱

I received an "unannounced" security patch on my LG G8X ThinQ a couple weeks ago so assume updates from the likes of Samsung should still be ontrack. But like anything there's no guarantee especially in 2020... Telus/Koodo must have fired their update schedule team, either that or they are all sick?

Or things are simply slower since most are still working from home, and other things have priority over managing a list of likely (repeatedly) delayed phone updates?

Working from home isn't a good excuse, especially when other providers seem to be able to keep up. The fact that the list got properly updated hours after putting the spotlight on it again kinda proves that fact that the updates were still coming and ongoing, just without any heads-up for customers. A historic list is somewhat less useful than an upcoming schedule to prepare resources for updates to multiple users, especially business customers who need to anticipate potential conflicts from UI updates, etc.

It's already bad enough having multiple week delays vs US and European carries for security patches that require little carrier specializations. It would be far better to simply have Mfrs do direct UI & security updates, and just have Telus do the carrier services updates, especially if they are struggling to keep up with the others for whatever reason. If carriers want to intervene or control that process, then they need to properly support it too. Considering much of the heavy lifting is done by LG, Samsung, etc (and who are also more to blame for actual software delays/omissions especially for specific devices) it's definitely more of a focus issue than a resources or location limitation for the simple act of maintaining a schedule vs the actual development/testing which was obviously proceeding in the background. 🤔

Of all the roles that are well suited for work from home, software tester/developer and website management are near the top of the list. There is no reason the schedule should've been delayed for the needs of office space or face to face interaction, especially for a company that promotes the benefits of work from home products and services.

It would also be far more understandable having those operational challenges in March, April or even May, but not in September when Covid considerations should already be part of daily business operations.

That's always my main concern. Just like when you work like I do, as a sales rep, so commission base, I need information to make my job more results based. To make it so I need the communication to never stop. As is the case with Telus, my company is the same. Communication always breaks down when it is most necessary.
That being said I appreciate that maybe they do listen, but just don't care too much about it to let people know that they are paying attention. I go on at times. My apologies. Such a Canadian I am.

S20s updates are out. Just updated my S20+ phone to September patch
