On the iPad the closest you'll get is iMessage since that can be associated with an email address. Other than that, the iPad isn't usually considered a phone. SMS is usually associated with a phone number.

If there is a SIM card inserted..... yes, there is a number for that sim card.

Then it'll likely boil down to whether or not Telus wants to enable SMS on cellular tablets from their end.

Right. Ipad wi-fi cellular, sim card and phone number assigned. I was hoping a moderator might have a crystal ball on Telus future plans...
