I recently got an LG-E9763. I cannot figure out how to retrieve my phone messages.

Whne a message is left on my phone, I get a message "you've got mail" and a #1 appears on my phone icon.  When I tap my pnone icon, it shows who I got a call from, but that is as far as it goes.  After that, I'm lost.

Help please!
