Hi Everyone,
I'm currently awaiting my Huawei Mate 20 Pro from Telus. I've heard a number of reports of a green hue when the screen is set to a complete black picture. There is also reports of the screen flickering. This seems to be an issue with screens that have been supplied by LG. The Huawei Mate 20 Pro uses an OLED panel from either LG Display or BOE (LG EA9151 or BOE R66451). Has anyone had this issue with phones supplied by Telus?
You can check your Huawei Mate 20 Pro screen manufacturer by doing the following:
Settings > system > about phone Or Download : Device Info HW from Play Store Source: https://uk.community.huawei.com/mate-20-series-20/mate-20-pro-green-edges-on-screen-679/index3.html#post3367

Hi Everyone,
I'm happy to report that I got my Huawei Mate 20 Pro last week Thursday. My fiance got hers this Tuesday and both our phones have the BOE panels. So far I haven't seen any issues with the screens displaying any green hues. The curved display is highly reflective at the sides and a bit of a distraction. But it's a price I'm willing to pay since this design is comfortable to hold in the hand. The phone is very quick and the battery will last up to 2 days. If I see any display issues crop up I'll write a followup. This phone is easily one of the top 3 phones out there right now and I highly recommend it.

LG's OLED's are pure trash! The V30 is a perfect example of this. I went through 6 to get one with a tolerable screen and it died after 2 months of use. Uniformity issues, bright spots, banding at the top and bottom of the screen, and so on. A black image but I personally find a darker grey image works perfectly for identifying this issue. Doing so in a dark room makes it easier to spot. LG considers this issue a manufacturing characteristic and not a defect. Don't buy anything with an LG OLED on it, especially their TV's! Return your device and play the screen lottery or get something better.

Samsung definitely makes the best OLED screens in the phone business and the same goes for their TV's. I love the screen on my Note 9!

My friend got one with the LG panel. He warrantied it for the green hue, and the replacement they sent him has the BOE panel.
The quality between the two is night and day. I don't know why they put that horrid LG panel in some of them, but they did.
#greengate or not, the actual panel color quality is far better on the BOE panels.

Hate to bump an old thread but has anyone here replaced their phone with an LG panel on it? Huawei wants me to mail it somewhere in Ontario and possibly wait 2-3 weeks for a replacement, while paying for a plan for a phone I can't use. Needless to say, that's not going to happen. Is it possible to just exchange it at a Telus store?
Thanks

Warranty repairs or replacement falls to the manufacturer to address. As such, it is not possible to complete an exchange at the retail level (Telus store), in part, because there has been no assessment if the issue warrants replacement.
Is there someone in your circle of friends who has a phone you might borrow in the interim?
