How do you transfer a home phone number to an unlocked smartphone? I have already subscribed mobility services with Telus using other smartphones. I want to add another device by using the number transferred from the home phone.

When you are setting up the new account on your cellphone, you simply ask that your current home phone number be PORTED to your new account. You may have to provide the credentials indicating your ownership of the home phone number. You home account will be closed once the porting is completed. This may take a few days.

What type of credentials indicating ownership of the home phone number do you need to provide for porting? The home phone number belongs to a family member.

I would suggest the phone bill, and the person owning the number should be present during the transaction to confirm they are prepared to allow the switch.

After the home phone number is transferred to the cellphone, can I then transfer the home account from the old home to the new home? Use existing home account or a new home account will be set up?

The account from which the phone number is transferred is usually closed. If there are other services at the home, it is most likely a new account can be opened to service the new home.
