Cheaper US roaming rates.

Telus when will you offer the $5 or less US roaming that Rogers does. It shows Rogers cares more about their customers pocket book than Telus. Give us a break.

Looking at the Telus travel passes.  I see there is now a 3 day pass for short weekend trips.  But there is demand/market for a 1 day pass.  Can Telus offer such a product?

Telus just began offering a $7/day US roaming option.

Wow... being able to use all that extra data allowance when I'm across the border is a huge plus me, especially on Alaskan cruises.  No more 50 or 100mb limits.

Does anyone know what data speeds we connect to when roaming in the US on the new US Easy Roam plan?

Yeah Rogers is cheaper for roaming but 2 bucks a day is not a huge deal for me.

Thanks for the info

Marc

Hi Bigs, the data speeds would depend on the network you would be roaming on. You wouldn't be getting LTE speeds, but the next best thing, in terms of speed that is, and provided the roaming carrier supports it.

Hey @Bigs

At current time, clients roaming on partner networks in the U.S. access 4G HSPA speeds (not to be confused with 4G LTE).

Expected speeds are: 4G DC-HSPA: 42 Mbps; 4G HSPA: 21 Mbps. Note that these are theoretical speeds and expected speeds can come out lower.

Thanks guys I appreciate the info.  🙂

Is the info in the link below outdated then?  Just fell on this now.

Even locally, you'll find data speeds will vary from neighborhood to neighborhood.

When down South, I find both Rogers and Telus mainly use ATT for US services.  Some places will see TMobile as the US carrier as it offers the stronger signal.

Thanks XL yeah we don't always look and see how many times the signal changed from LTE, to HSPA to 3G.  As long as it works and I can get emails and send a few MMS it's fine.  🙂

It may be $2 more but you can take it on ANY plan vs. only Your Choice (ShareEverything at Rogers). Seems fairer to me.

tsizzle, yeah I really don't care much for Rogers...

That's a bonus dru, thanks for letting me know.   🙂

I'm using the easy roaming now in SFO. It's nice having data at a reasonable price while travelling. AT&T is slow however compared to TELUS.

Hey Guys,

Quick question and probably a stupid one...

Do I have to ENABLE Data Roaming for the Easy Roam to work?  It's always disabled on mine.

Just making sure.

@Bigs Yes if you want to use data. No if you only need talk and text.

Cool thanks dru!   🙂
