Indeed. Come on, Telus. Spill the beans!
When can we expect you to have finished approving the update and release it? You folks are usually at the front of the pack with stuff like this! Are there problems? Complications? Difficulties? Or are we just being a tad impatient....?
Hi, I was wondering the same thing this morning and found this post from just today February 09, 2015:
To your points:
"Based on information gleaned from BlackBerry sources, the report adds that the BB10 OS 10.3.1 update was due to be rolled on Saturday, but was pulled due to issues including erasing the data on the device.
For now, BlackBerry has yet to confirm the start of the roll-out on February 19, and users are advised to take the reports of the release date with a pinch of salt as the company may yet run into unforeseen issues."
So, nothing official sounding, but if we're lucky the roll out might start February 19th. Fingers crossed!
I know it just got released today for the Q10 and Z10, which is good news that whatever bugs needed to be worked out by Blackberry have been addressed. That being said no official date for the Passport, but seeing it's out for the Q10 and Z10, I'd make a safe guess probably next week or early the week after. I'm just as eager for it as you, won't be long now!
Just wanted to share this as well:
As the roll out begins, forums are growing with user experience; much is positive on the update however one thing that is getting attention is an error popping up about insufficient space to perform the update.
There is currently not enough free space (internal device memory) on the smartphone to install the update successfully. The BlackBerry 10 OS requires 2.5 times the downloaded package size, for example, an update package of 1GB will require a total of 2.5GB's free space to download and install successfully.
Please refer to this article for Blackberry’s recommended work around if you come across this:
Our team working hard to roll out the updates ASAP. Here's the latest:
Z10/Q10 - Released
Z30/Passport - ETA next week
Q5 - The week of March 5th
Timelines may change, but we'll make sure to keep you updated. 8-)
here are the steps to perform the update.
(Note: For over-the-air update, the device must be connected to Wi-Fi.)
1 On your BlackBerry 10 OS device, go into Settings.
2 Tap Software Updates. The BlackBerry device will automatically check for device software updates. If an update is available, the Application Updates Available window will appear.
3 Select Update Now to proceed.
If no updates are found, try performing a manual update.
Update from BlackBerry Link
1 On your computer, open BlackBerry Link.
2 At the bottom of the screen, click Your device.
3 Click the settings icon.
4 In the Settings view, in the left pane, click Install Update.
I do know how to update the software on my Q10 but when I check for available software updates, the device states that I have the latest update. I also checked BlackBerry Link and there's any option to update the software from there either.
Any other helpful suggestions?
Awaiting the update for the Q5 (which always seems to be the BB10 afterthought). Thanks for the update on the rollout dates, but why is the Q5 dead last and the Q10 one of the first rollouts?
My friend just got the update pushed to their Q10 today, have you had any such luck?
Only other thing I could suggest (besides waiting but that doesn't strike me as a welcome suggestion! ) is to try this link from the official BlackBerry website.
under the Update on the Web section, either follow steps 1 through 4 to install the updater, or if you already have it installed, click on the blue Check for Updates button after connecting your phone via USB.
Hope it helps, and if not, well you're at least one day closer to the update
Just turned on my old Q10.... 10.3.1 update showed update. Updated it and Optik on the Go app works great tonight! Love watching LiveTV on my Q10!
If you have problems with the Optik signin, just swipe down to resize the screen.
