I was wondering what battery saving apps are good out there to download? I have the S4 and there are so many apps for it that I thought I'd see if there was a specific one you guys recommend.

I've heard of that more than once that AMOLED doesn't use battery when screen is black. FInd that so fascinating.
Anyways, a good few apps to keep handy are Juice Defender (turns off data while your screen is locked) and Smart Wifi Toggler (turns on wifi in known areas of wifi connections). Both of these apps work hand-in-hand and can help your battery life by 1.5x normal. Give it a good week for your wifi toggler to kick in the proper locations and for your juice defender to save you some battery life, but a definite must.

I would also suggest Greenify iff you are rooted as it freezes apps when they are closed and stops them from rnning. Also one of the best things you can do for the S4 to save battery is go black. The type of screen (AMOLED) does not turn the pizels on if the area is black. So if your wallpaper is black thats probably 70% of the screen turned of right there. And if you use apps with dark themes you can eek even more battery out of the phone.

One really interesting app I would is this one which tells you how many times an app runs in the background. This can be anything from checking for notifications, pining your location. Any number of things but this shows you which apps run in the background and how often they are running (hin if you have Facebook on... well that is #1)

If you have a phone with a Qualcomm Snapdragon chip, you can download the app "BatteryGuru" from the Play store and it definitely helped my Nexus 4.
