Shaw internet and keeping Telus Optik Tv

Hi Forum Friends!

We are a basement suite and used to get Telus wifi and Optik tv from our landlord that live above us. We have recently moved to shaw internet (as to have some more data/freedom). We still have the telus Optik tv box and the landlords are still paying for that whole package. Is there any way we can get the Optik to work as the Cable input is now being used by the Shaw box? Can we get a splitter or something?

Cheers!

Unless the TELUS Optik box contains a PVR, it can connect wirelessly. Else you would likely need an Ethernet connection.

I don't think it has a wireless connection as it was previously connected to the wall through a coaxial cable (of which now the shaw box utilizes).  So it would need to connect via an ethernet cable to one of our free sockets?

If Shaw is using the coax connection now, the Optik box would need an alternate connection. If the ethernet jacks in your unit are connected to the Telus gateway upstairs then yes that should work. If they aren't then you may have a problem.

Yes, unless it can operate wirelessly, it will need to connect to Ethernet that eventually is connected to your landlord's router.

Most Telus TV boxes are wireless which one do you have?

It says the CIS330

That requires being hardwired. Your landlord could likely request an upgrade to the ISB7105 or newer, which would be wireless.
