I am a new Telus TV and internet customer who recently switched from Shaw where I was using their older Arris Gateway platform for the last 8 years. Honestly it was great but Shaw no longer supports them and their new Blue Curve is missing some key features and they have no desire to fix them after 5+ years in use. When I switched to Telus last week I was expecting at least the basic recording features for this new Android based Technicolor technology. One obvious omission is the ability to extend a recording by a set amount of time, and also the allow default settings of this nature. For example, most sport shows (Hockey and Football because that is my thing) run past the program scheduled time to end. Almost every hockey game lasts 2 hours and 45 minutes yet the scheduled time is 2 hours and 30 minutes. Imagine my surprise when I found that the two games I have already recorded ended recording with 5 minutes still on the 3rd period clock. When I looked for the option to extend future recordings I found there are NO options available and no ability to set default recording options. Even the old PACE units that Shaw used 20 years ago had those features. C'mon Telus, you can do better.

Reading through New Ideas suggested I came across this one now closed. Post started February 2023 https://forum.telus.com/t5/Ideas/Missing-ability-to-extend-recording-time-on-new-Optik-TV-Digital/idi-p/134365 My idea is why are these unresolved good ideas closed before a solution is made. There are several posts asking why there are no simple PVR settings to set start and stop times. It is now November 21, 2023 and there is no extended recordings option. By closing a thread is that a way of saying Telus is not interested in acomodating the idea?

Eons ago Bell and Telus used the same Microsoft Mediaroom platform to provide their fibre TV service. It was cutting edge at the time, but over the years it seems Bell has moved light years beyond where Telus is. Their current offering has more support for Google services, a cloud based PVR and more flexibility in remote watching of programs. I would love to see Telus offer an upgrade path to these features, as Optik has grown very long in the tooth. Even Shaw is offering these features now.

I really miss the feature with Shaw that allowed me to specify which sports teams to record when they were on tv. No such feature exists on Optik. For example, I either record every hockey game or I have to keep an eye on when my team plays and manually record them ahead of each game. Both ways are inconvenient and doesn’t meet my needs. I know many people who believe this is a huge shortcoming with signing up with Telus. Please add the ability to automatically record specific sports teams.

So SpaceX just put out a call to Carriers to participate in direct to cell phonecoverage located here: https://www.spacex.com/updates/#direct2cell This will enable Direct to cellphone coverage for limited bandwidth text and voice applications. Canada is vast, and we have many many touristy areas without coverage. Kananaskis comes to mind, where there are thousands of visitors without coverage. Would hope TELUS would take the lead here! to help provide emergency phone and SMS coverage all over.

1) allow us to watch recorded shows on our device instead of only on the TV. Shaw let’s us do that and it’s really handy. I can record shows my husband hates and watch them while I’m doing chores. Forcing me to only watch them on the TV keeps me in one room… 2) please put a progress bar when skipping through shows. It’s so handy to know how far along the show is, for so many reasons. I see the progress bar when I pause but I miss having it when I skip through commercials (like Shaw has). 3) consider having a folder on the PVR called “Deleted Recordings” and when you delete a show, it goes there (instead of “poof!”. That way it can be recovered within a few days if it is needed again, or if it was deleted in error. I miss that feature that Shaw had. Thanks for everything else - otherwise I love my experience with Telus.

Would like to have the option for Mediaset for the Italian channels on optic TV . The last post for this channel was several years ago from someone in Calgary, which stated that with a city of this size and a huge Italian community, it would be a benefit to have the option of having Mediaset, not to mention the city of Vancouver with its big Italian population. I am from a smaller city in BC with a large Italian community , who would also see a benefit for Telus and the customer by offering this option. I would like to see that this option for Mediaset be addressed for optic TV, as BELL DOES offer this channel in their Italian channels.

When someone replies to me I get an email. Click on the RE: _____________ and my web page opens to that reply. Why does the bell continue to show a message waiting after I have viewed it?

Please make a way to block or delete apps from Optik. I have blocked the channel but they access from menu and there is no way to remove or block.

I enjoy watching My Zen TV an am extremely disappointed that you are canceling it, I also enjoyed the NFB channel the you canceled recently. Keep this up and I may well cancel your services.

While these channels in Theme Packs are ostensibly connected by themes, it seems that many are not the case and haphazardly arranged into what is NOT a theme. Take Favourite Films for example. This Theme Pack has a paltry three channels in it. When IFC was still an available channel, it was included but then removed and not replaced with anything. Why not add MovieTime to this "theme" where it appropriately belongs? Another good example is Mezzo, a music channel but is included in a "Knowledge" theme pack. It seems that Telus is putting channels together haphazardly and calling them Themes when there is no theme to them. It would be nice if Telus would revamp their theme packs to more appropriately reflect the themes they are supposed top represent.

I want to be able to set up a series record for all the games for ONE NHL Team, not every game from every team on every day. I had a Shaw box that could do that over 10 years ago, I don't understand how Telus hasn't added that functionality yet. It should not be hard to program with today's technology.

Hello, I am a new Telus TV customer. I have been with Shaw and would like to give you my opinion on what I like best about your service and what I miss from Shaw. I am as bit of a power user. 1) I love how fast the “skip” function works while buzzing through commercials on taped shows. Shaw was WAY slower and had massive lag. 2) I really miss the progress bar while skipping forward. Shaw has that. 3) I miss not being able to watch recorded shows on my device using the Optik app. I could with Shaw. I found it handy when I watched half a show on the TV s added then could catch the rest on my device while making dinner. If I use On Demand I have to watch from the beginning again. 4) I love that I can set up TV recordings using the app. I couldn’t do that with Shaw. 5) I love that a phone call comes on the screen. That didn’t happen with Shaw. 6) Even though I really liked Shaw’s voice remote, it was very imperfect and never ever responded to my commands on the first try. It also was very laggy. I really love your services - and your prices. Keep getting better!!

I have a phone picked up a SIM card from a dealer. I did not want to wait weeks for a SIM card to ship to me. I need this new line now not in shipped in 5-7 busses days. There is no way to use your own SIM card. If I call to active I will be charged $50 activation!!!!!! Either let me use my own SIM card or stop charging $50 for activation! Best of both worlds do both! People are paying enough for your services.

I would love to see the ability to save the TV channel settings (customize my guide) on all PVR boxes once. I make the changes on on digital box but they do not carry over to our other box. It is quite frustrating that every week, I need to go in an unselect preview channels from showing up in my guide. While we are at it, can you give us the option to see only "checked" channels in the guide set up? I have to scroll though pages and pages to see channels that were added to my guide by a system update.

I use both Shaw and Telus for the last twenty years and I have to commend Shaw to keep their Call Centre in Canada. English is my second language so I usually have a hard time to communicate with someone in the Philippines where I believe Telus main Call Centre is. It is much easier for me to communicate with someone who speak Canadian English (even with accent) and understand some Canadian custom. I have to arrange services at Senior Home recently and Telus agent in Philippines does not have a clue on the general layout at Canadian Senior Home. Today I connected with a Telus agent in BC and she understand the service requirements quickly. Keep your Call Centre in Canada, Telus - just like what you brag about being a GOOD community member!!

We need boost the coverage in our neighborhood. We live along Raymer Rd at Kelowna. We get only one bar just being outside. We miss calls and text messages We have to pay extra $50 for home phone to make calls in BC
