Optic TV PVR upgrade?????
We received email that said we were required to upgrade our PVR cable modems to new improved models. They said that this upgrade, HOWEVER, this is really a big downgrade over what we currently have. Currently our programs are stored locally on the device. I have numerous shows recorded over the last year and want to keep them. The tech says that only shows recorded in the last 90 days will be moved to the new device because shows are now recorded into the cloud and all recordings will be automatically deleted after 90 days. This is a MAJOR downgrade in service.
Secondly, having the recorded programs locally stored on the hard drive of the cable box we currently have means the programs play back flawlessly.... no pixelation due to having to be played back over the Internet (which will be the case once we have all our recorded programs in the cloud)
Thirdly we lose our call display. For some reason this is not included on the new box
We have no option to retain our old devices... this is mandatory!!!
All in all very disappointed!!!!! Just signed a new 2 year contract and we will be talking to Telus about getting out of this contract and getting a different provider. Getting sick and tired of the antics that the cable providers in Canada are allowed to do to the consumer
