The new URL is https://watchoptik.telus.com/ or did you have another question? Hard to tell what you’re after with a vague question.

This is interesting, at least the guide page.

Too bad it's halfdone. Can't play anything and shows that I am not subscribed for come up.

I don't have Chrome on this. Not too happy with GOOG these days so I keep FF for now.

The Guide also works fine on Safari, as well.

@Just_LH-- This particular thing only works with Chrome, Safari, and Microsoft, says the info. Firefox handles code in unique ways, which causes conflicts, and sometimes outright war. Maybe just use Chrome for this one thing, and pretend it's not a Google spawn. I do that. Cat LOL

Does anyone know why not all Live TV channels are watchable on the Optik TV website? For example some channels will have a "play" icon and other will have an "exclamation" icon. Why can't all channels have the "play" icon to make them watchable?

Is your computer connected to the same network as your Optik TV PVR? Some channels are only available to authenticated users via IP addressing. Some channels are only available on the Optik Device.

CHEK is one station which seems only available to your device when connected to your assigned IP address attached to your Optik unit.

Yes, the computer is connected to the same network as the wireless Optik TV box. I don't have a PVR. I can watch all the channels on the HD Wireless Digital Box and only some on https://watchoptik.telus.com.

It's not just CHEK TV but a random number of channels that either can or cannot be watched.

I suggest you contact Telus, as it is likely something needs to be reset on their end. I had a similar experience with PikTV, and my profile needed to be adjusted. However, some channels are not available for internet delivery at all.

EDIT: Interestingly, I see the same at the URL you posted, but not on the App!

Okay, I chatted with a TV technical support person and he said the reason why I can't watch certain channels on https://watchoptik.telus.com is because of get this: Broadcaster Restrictions

It's not a technical issue but a legal issue. I'm just dumbfounded.

Wouldn't be the first time broadcaster restrictions caused issues. MUCH tv has issues with broadcaster restrictions for specific shows. Simpsons being one of them. No problems watching on the Optik box but on anything that streams TV (phone, web) it blocks those shows. Some channels are just not watchable online / via the app because some broadcasters seem to love being difficult.

I don't believe that the TV Technical Support Person truly knows why I can't watch certain channels because a channel like CHEK (121-CHEKDT) should be available to all residents of BC. This is a BC channel meant for BC residents who should be permitted to watch with no restrictions.

I'd be curious to see what CHEK has to say about this.

CHEK, in particular is one channel which very definitely has such restrictions. As I indicated earlier, it can be viewed on the Optik TV App (at least if connected to your home IP (I've not tested elsewhere). CHEK is also available on PikTV  on the device, or through the App while on your home network WHEN and ONLY WHEN the PikTV device is connected to your network. If the PikTV device is removed from your network, or you connect your mobile device to another network, CHEK is definitely not available you. These Apps etc, also do not deliver programming when connected to an IP address outside Canada - so you can't watch when in the USA, for instance. There are a number of other channels which show the same behaviour.

Based on the above, I have no difficulty accepting the reason the CSR offered you.

I just used the Optik TV App on an iPad and CHEKDT 121 does show up. So it's a software problem with either the web browser, the Windows 10 operating system or the server providing https://watchoptiktv.telus.com. Though the Optik TV App still shows the "exclamation" symbol on some channels so.

Quick troubleshooting and the problem has been narrowed down.

You know, I think not all channels are available to conserve server utilization since many Telus customers use their regular TV to watch programs and not their Internet connected devices. That seems reasonable enough. A lot of TV cord cutters and will only grow so who knows where the trend will lead this technology.

I can narrow it even more. It is not limited to Windows 10 or your web browser, as it behaves the same on Mac OS / Safari.

You may wish to apply Occam's Razor to this situation.
