Optik tv renewal
Is it common practice for telus to automatically renew your contract after 2 years?
Apparently my contract was renewed in January but I have no recollection of any documentation of giving my consent for renewal. Now I'm stuck in a contract for a service i don't even use until November 2026....I would not have renewed if I'd been given the option.

What Fuzzylogic said, and I will add if you do not have a contract you can download after you log into your account. Read it to determine if it was renewed or what most people complain about is the rates double and you agreed to it on the original contract. For two years you get discounts which end in 24 months and you pay 100% after that. Look at what you paid in months before the January renewal compared to current months.

At the end of a 2-year TELUS contract, your service should continue on a month-to-month basis unless you contact them before the contract expires.
I don't think Telus will renew you for another 2-year contract without your permission. You will need to contact them to cancel the service or arrange for a new contract.
This is similar to other services such as Neflix, Amazon or Apple TV who will start to charge you after your free trial expires unless you cancel prior to the end of the trial.
