It's definitely worthwhile to upgrade, as our newest Optik platform has many new features such as unlimited cloud-based recordings up to 90 days, personalized user profiles, access to tons of apps from the Google Play Store, and seamless integration of various streaming services such as Netflix and Prime Video just to name a few! I tried the upgrade, and it has been a bit of a disaster. Mainly through trial and error I now have our LG TV and Yamaha receiver turning off and on with the Telus remote. I have to change the input with the Yamaha remote, and they play a major guessing game with the rest of the buttons including the TV input on the Telus remote. It probably takes me 5 minutes or more to turn on my system and actually watch something. When I get the inputs sorted out it then I can control volume from the Yamaha receiver.
But the other issue is image quality. It has gone downhill to the point it is more like standard definition than high definition, especially with recordings.
Not impressed and if I can't gets these issues sorted out I am going to return it to go back to the old system.
Thanks for the review. I was looking into switching, but I will definitely stay with the old system for as long as possible.
