Rural Telus Wireless Home Internet - 50 Mbps service with Red light of Doom on the modem.

Upon inspection of the outer router/receiver it looks to be a sim card problem as the metal contacts looks black on one of the bottom corners.  I thought the sim was in the internal modem in the house as it has been 2 or 3 years since I installed this.  I am unsure of the sim card got moisture from condensation of hot and cold weather, or if rain, snow, or melting ice leaked past the rubber seal.  All in all a poor design.  Perhaps I can wrap a zip lock bag around it when I get the new sim card (if that is in fact the problem).  So the service call I will be receiving tomorrow will be a big waste of time.
