RB21T Remote and TELUSTV-24S IR or BT

I am trying to program my Sofabaton x1s remote and not having any luck. I contacted Sofabaton and they also could not add the codes in the database. I tried some of the old Telus devices in the Sofabaton data base but all have limited function.

Can someone from Telus please confirm if the RB21T is only IR during setup and then uses all Bluetooth to send signals or does it function with some Bluetooth and some IR signals during regular use?

Are you able to share the codes to be added to the Sofabaton database?

  • OK I have this solved now, I had to unpair the TELUS remote from the TELUSTV box to get it to go into IR mode so that I could learn the IR commends for my other remote. It did reconnect and switch to Bluetooth mode and but I unpaired again to learn all of the IR commends. Unfortunately the Sofabaton does not learn Bluetooth commends only IR and RF.

Regarding IR vs Bluetooth, once the remote control is paired via Bluetooth, IR is turned off entirely and it only communicates via Bluetooth unless the remote control gets disconnected for any reason. Then IR would be enabled again. As for the codes, we don't have any that we can specify unfortunately.

Thank you this at least gives me some direction to investigate knowing all button presses are BT once the remote is connected. I can see about the Sofabaton learning the codes from the Telus remote individually.

  • So far the android tv options have been too limited and not been able to give me all the buttons available on the RB21T remote. I like the X1s and it is an approvement over the X1 I originally had and have found it a useful replacement for my Harmony One and 880 I used for years but has limited number of buttons , macros and different  activities are easy to set up and function well. The X2 coming out should be everything I felt the X1s was missing with the additional functions of the programable screen (number pad to enter channel for one) https://www.sofabaton.com/product/x2/?srsltid=AfmBOoo_ftVfyO-sVF4U_bvEQjwbtQmZg5P7ZSVUQAbps-LW5GMuvnby

Can't you just learn the additional buttons from the RB21T?

Are there any Android TV options in the database? I would suspect that if so that should work with the Telus box.

Curious as to what you think about the Sofabaton as I'm considering the U2 as a replacement for my Logitech Harmony that has no support for Bluetooth.
