NAH20 Bridge Mode Drops Internet After 30-60 Minutes
Hi everyone,
I'm having issues with my Telus NAH20 when operating in bridge mode.
Bridge mode is enabled on the 10G port (I've also tested LAN1 with the same results). Internet works normally for 30-60 minutes, then stops completely. Once it fails, it does not recover on its own. I have to either disconnect/reconnect the WAN cable or reboot one of the devices to restore connectivity.
I recently upgraded from the 1 Gbps plan to 1.5 Gbps. On the 1 Gbps service, I had the Telus fiber and SFP connected directly to the SFP WAN port of my UniFi Dream Machine Pro (UDM Pro), which worked flawlessly for about two years.
With the 1.5 Gbps service, I now have to use the NAH20. Because the UDM Pro handles my routing, firewall, DHCP, UniFi access points, and security cameras, I use bridge mode to avoid double NAT.
Troubleshooting completed:
- Factory reset UDM Pro
- Tested a PC directly on the bridged port
- Tested a Telus Boost Wi-Fi 7 on the bridged port
- Tested both the 10G port and LAN1 in bridge mode
- Replaced the NAH20
- Replaced the SFP module
- Re-terminated and verified the fiber connection
- Multiple calls with Telus support, including reprovisioning
The issue is identical in all cases. I've reproduced it on three devices, including the Telus Boost Wi-Fi 7.
Interestingly, the Boost Wi-Fi 7 works reliably when connected to a regular (non-bridged) LAN port. The problem only occurs when using a bridged port.
Given the troubleshooting completed, I'm wondering if this could be related to provisioning, DHCP lease, authentication, ARP, or bridge-mode configuration on the Telus side.
Has anyone experienced similar issues with the NAH20 in bridge mode?
Thanks, Trevor
