Is this a scam (Telus pop-up window)?

While on Facebook, a pop-up window came up saying that as a long time Telus customer I had been selected to receive a prize and that I had 1 minute and 30 seconds to answer questions about our equipment. I shut the window fearing it was a scam, but the pop-up did appear like it was from Telus. I couldn’t find anywhere online that mentioned this type of scam, so I thought I would ask here.

  • Yes, that's a scam ad. A good rule of thumb to follow is, if it's an advertisement on Facebook, consider it a scam. Especially a pop up ad. Facebook doesn't do enough to verify someone wanting to post ads on their site so there are a lot of scams on their website.

Telus occasionally had ways to enter for prizes but it was through the rewards part of the My Telus account. Not through a third party website.
