Majority of pictures are too dark since install

Both my LG oled TV’s have very dark pictures during indoor scenes now . It’s as though Telus has some kind of firmware issue with there android tv boxes .

Both tvs were perfectly fine before switching to Telus , as a matter of fact I had my oled tvs set to expert dark .

Now on vivid a lot of scenes are far too dark when the movie scene is indoors . Tried putting my lg tv to strong hdr , which only helped a bit , and I found vivid a little better .

Went through every setting on the Telus box with no resolve . You can turn the brightness up in settings on the tv,but then whites burn your retinas out , especially older content .

Anyone else having similar issues ?

  • Ok I have no idea how to see if my boxes have the latest firmware. Read somewhere to power cycle the modem ,then the boxes , and it may update if they’re not.

We’re sorry to hear about the picture quality issues you’re experiencing. Have you tried adjusting the HDMI settings on your TV or switching HDMI ports? Also, ensuring your TELUS TV box is running the latest firmware update may help. If the issue persists, please send a private message TELUS_Support  so we can look into this further for you.

Well so far nothing has worked . Just updated the firmware on my lg tv with no success . I’ll check to see if there’s a firmware update available on the Telus box

Does this happen across apps running on your TV as well? Or only on the TELUS set-top box? If it's the latter, your set-top box might be forcing HDR when most programming is SDR. Have you tried turning on dynamic range matching? (Settings > Device settings > Device Preferences > Display & Sound > Match content dynamic range)
