Ulefone Armor 26

Telus doesn't seem to offer any phones with micro SD options which interest me, and that means looking elsewhere for phones. The Sonim XP10 simply doesn't offer me what I want for the price, as far as storage and memory go.

I'm curious about the Ulefone Armor 26, which is only a recently released phone option, but I'm concerned about capability on the Telus network.

While I'm not overly concerned about chat over Wi-Fi, I'm wondering if anyone knows if data and text are a going concern with more recent Ulefone models?

I need a solid phone with expandable memory, and I don't think the Samsung models (available elsewhere) are going to cut it for me.

So I bought a 27T last month as I needed a work phone and the flir really comes in handy for me as well as it being tough. Anyways I thought it worked fine as I did all the changeover from my old phone at home with wifi hooked up. It turns out though that I can only get data to work in 3g mode. Calls work in 4g and 5 g and texting as well but not with pics and group chats dont seem to work either. Seems now and it could be because I let the phone update all the apns are locked and greyed out and I cant add one either. My wifes pixel 7 is the same on Telus yet my sons samsung he can still add apns. Odd.. so I went to the telus corporate store for help and to ask a few questions. The girl there Sabrina took one look at the phone and asked where I  bought it and I said direst from the manufacturer and she asked if was from China .. and when I said yes she said it is not supported and basically that was it. I said so you wont eben let me ask you any questions and she said its not supported so no.. I got her name and told her I was going to make a complaint and she said go ahead.. I have telus security optik Internet and mobile and get treated like wonderful..anyways when I was on the phone with the TEC who said it should work he asked me if I had gone into a store for help..told him and he didnt think what she did was right either..guess looking at amazon was more important to the young lady..If that is the class of all employees working in there stores they need to clean house.  Long story short is the Tek said it should work and Ulefone does not understand why I cant edit the apns as they are dif then my wifes APNs on her phone. Ulefone asked me for a Video of trying to edit the Apns and I just sent that out so will wait a bit before trying a reset ...and if all else hopefully that works... Next time I go into a telus store I will record the whole thing

The Telus stores won't provide support for devices they don't sell. The employees in the stores aren't there for technical support either. They primarily are there to sell things.

Normally when you get a non-Telus device, you will need to edit the APN settings first. The specific APN settings are really easy to find online. As for the APN settings being locked, that is something only Ulefone will be able to address. Telus would have no way to unlock them because they don't control the system software that Ulfone uses on their devices.

So I bought a ulefone 27T last month as I needed a work phone and the flir really comes in handy for me as well as it being tough. So to be clear you cant buy a flir attachment for say a Iphone for the price of the whole phone I bought Anyways I thought it worked fine as I did all the changeover from my old phone at home with wifi hooked up. Odd.. so I went to the telus corporate store in seven oaks mall for help and to ask a few questions. The girl there Sabrina took one look at the phone and asked where I  bought it and I said direct from the manufacturer and she asked if was from China .. and when I said yes she said it is not supported and basically that was it. I said so you wont even let me ask you any questions and she said its not supported so no.. I got her name and told her I was going to make a complaint and she said go ahead.. I have telus security optik Internet and mobile and get treated like crap..I suspect I spend the better part of 400 dollars every month and she cant take any time..they were not busy and every one of the maybe 5 people were just sitting alone at their desks alone..I got a little pissy and asked her for her name and the tek number... my GOD SHE WAS SOOOO Kind and gave me that..anyways when I was on the phone with the TEC who said it should work he asked me if I had gone into a store for help..told him what happened and he didnt think what she did was right either..guess looking at amazon was more important to the young lady..If that is the class of all employees working in there stores they need to clean house.I made a phone complaint but iI dont think it went anywhere. I would like some response on this ..I am under no contracts to stay with telus on anything and may seek a new provider with people who care. By the way the Tek person was great and I told him so..I did not get a email asking me about him yet though.

  • I have one coming - it looks like it will work fine on 5G - it has the 71 band which is what is needed for Telus 5G. There are no issues with all other networks. I purchased mostly because of the ham radio inclusion and if that does not work out, I'll sell it.

It does. I used it without any issues. But, it is huge... Crazy huge. Sold it.

n71 is not deployed in very many places for Telus 5G. The device is also not compatible with VoLTE or VoNR, so your calls will be dependent on 3G service until 3G is discontinued.

Thanks for the info. As long as the 3g is working it will be fine. Data is more important and I do have the 71 band. I stopped buying Chinese phone a long time ago because of the poorly implemented software but I hear this has improved and am hoping this phone will endure the hard knocks it will Recieve.
  • What Telus deems as a grey market device are not family treated on their network and Telus is currently the only Canadian carrier to block most international market devices from fully working on their network. The device will not be provisioned for VoLTE, VoNR, or VoWiFi and roaming will not be permitted in the US and potentially other countries.

Tue 3G sunset for Canada is coming. It probably won't be this year but no one really knows when Canadian carriers will start this process or when the government will give Canadian carriers a date to do this by. Because grey market devices are forced to rely on 3G for calls. Those devices will not be able to make or receive calls once that happens. It might be worth buying something sold I'm Canada at authorized retailers, like BestBuy. If storage size is an issue. Purchase a device with a larger storage capacity, like 512GB or 1TB of internal storage.

Ulefone lists global network compatibility on the specs page for the phone. It has all Canadian networks listed. While in theory the phone may work, it's impossible to know if it'll work without problems. The specs page does list most of the Canadian 3G, 4G/LTE and 5G cellular bands / frequencies.

Some people have had some luck with getting some Chinese phones to work on Telus in the past but not everyone. You would have to manually configure the APN settings on the phone before data might work. There have been posts on the forums before of imported / non-Telus devices not working properly with VoLTE or Wi-fi Calling.
