Why is Telus shy about dislcosing future coverage expansion plans? Our area on the west side of Lake Okanagon is starved of decent High Speed Internet,

Considerable road widening of Westside Rd is planned for 2016/17 and offers an ideal opportunity for Telus to place fibre optic cable from La Casa to Muir Rd. Customers in Upper Fintry, Lower Fintry and areas beyond are screaming out for fast reliable service.

Telus usually places fibre in areas with sufficient population density and where the fibre trunk already exists. This is mostly townsites with 5000 plus population. Their announced plans for the West Kelowna are mapped here. Announcements for other areas would occur only when firm plans are in place to service an area.

Given the distance and numbers in the Fintry area, possibly the community could explore the opportunity to invlite a point-to-point internet service supplier to provide network services.

Many thanks for your fast response……however we are not West Kelowna but Kelowna (even though we are closer to West Kelowna) and may be classified as Vernon by Telus ops. Your service area map shows a different area than Fintry.

We are serviced by a point to point provider, but the service is terrible with frequent outages and very slow download speeds ( .5 Mbps since last Saturday).

Part of the decision making is level of interest. Head to www.telus.com/iwantfibre to let TELUS know that the demand is there. If you know your neighbours, share the link.

That sounds like a good idea, thank you.

Have you been able to hook up to this,  even though the improvement s to the road were restricted?

We are in Upper Fintry and Telus Optik began a hook up blitz in our neighbourhood 2 months ago. The hardest part of the exercise is the 1 1/2 hour wait to talk to Telus reps.
