Connection to mail server refused

Just Moved In

Hello,

I have linked my telus webmail with Thunderbird on 24.5.0 on Ubuntu. I am receiving email but when I try to send anything, I get a notice saying "could not connect to mail server [email protected]; the connection was refused. I have set my Incoming Server Setting to:

Incoming server name: [email protected],

Port: 142

and outgoing settings are as follows:

Outgoing server name: [email protected]

Port: 1025

Authentication: None

Use SSL: No

I am also currently in the UK and my problems with this email account started when I arrived.

Thanks,

Holly L.B.

Try authentication with user name and password. Telus may need the credentials as you are not connected to their network.

@hjlb If you are not on the TELUS network and unable to send emails, it's would be recommended to change the Outgoing Mail Server to correspond with the ISP you are connected to while in the UK. That should allow you to send emails while away. When you return, you can change the server back to TELUS.
