I'm trying to hard wire a simple network ie: T3200 > router > (pvr + PC x2.) My router is not powerful enough to handle the multicast signal so I'm wondering if this will work: T3200 > Gigabit switch > pvr + router > PC x2. Anybody?

You have a number of options:

  • T3200 > Gigabit switch > pvr + router > PC
  • T3200 > pvr
    •   > Bridge port 1 > Gigabit switch > PC

If on Fibre:

  •  ONT > Gigabit switch >T3200 > pvr
    •                            > router > PC

Thank you for the response. Since I only have one Ethernet cable (wired through the wall) available from T 3200 option number 1 is the choice I was curious about. My ONT, T3200, PVR  and main PC are all in one room while the 3 tv's ( one must be hard wired to pvr), switch, router and 2 other PC's run from a different room on a different floor. The other tv's run Wifi  from stb's but the 3rd box is the pvr and must be hard wired to the T3200. So, I'm hoping that the switch I'm buying: D-Link DGS-1005G Smart Gigabit Desktop Switch will split the signal and be plug and play.
