Did you mean:

Telus internet is awful. Frequent service drops but stays connected.

Does anyone else think their Telus internet is awful? I have the new ActionTec 3200 modem with Internet 50 speeds.

Yet, I will always get DNS/resolving host issues ALL THE TIME. For clarification, this is when:

  1. Wi-Fi is still connected
  2. Page will not load
  3. Chrome says "resolving host" and then eventually "DNS could not be found"
  4. 2-3 minutes later it magically works again.

Oh and did I mention the frequent ping spikes while gaming on anything at all from 60ms and then 3-5 minutes of spiking to 300+ping and then resuming back to normal?

What gives?

What happens to your Ethernet connected devices? Is it just the Wi-Fi portion causing problems?

I was having this exact problem with the only wired device I have on my network, other than the Optik boxes. My solution, which @NFtoBC pointed out, was to set the router to a static DNS. It's found in the "Advanced" section of the router, under WAN IP addressing, at the bottom. I'm just using the ones that pop in when you set it to static, and it's been working for me.
