Does it only cost $50 to renew your contract with an upgraded phone or is it the buy-out cost?

I bought my phone on a 3 year contract just over a year ago, since then, I believe now it costs $50 to cancel your contract. However, on my Telus app it's telling me I would have to pay over $300. I am just looking to upgrade my phone but I don't want a huge penalty....

As you are only 1 year into your 3 year contract that is why you are finding your Device Balance so high.  If you are having issues with your phone you can definitely call into our call centers we would be happy to discuss it with you.
