How to Identify Fake TELUS Social Media Accounts
Fraudulent accounts impersonating TELUS and TELUS Support are increasing on social media platforms. These fake accounts use TELUS branding and imagery to deceive customers into sharing personal information. Follow these steps to verify account authenticity and protect your information.
Verify Official TELUS Accounts
Confirmed TELUS social media accounts:
- Facebook: TELUS and @TELUSSupport (blue verification checkmark)
- Twitter/X: TELUS and @TELUSSupport (verification checkmark)
Look for the official verification checkmark on all TELUS accounts before engaging.
Identify Fraudulent Accounts
What to look out for:
Recent creation date: Account created within the last few weeks or months
Low follower count: Significantly fewer followers than official accounts (TELUS has hundreds of thousands)
Generic username: Random letters, numbers, or unrelated handles instead of "TELUS" or "TELUSSupport"
Missing verification: No blue checkmark beside the account name
Suspicious requests: Asks for passwords, account numbers, or personal information via direct message
Protect Yourself
Never share your information with unverified accounts. This can include info like:
