fast forward has been disabled by the broadcaster

Why am I getting this message on my live tv as well as my PVR recorded programs?

On live tv I can’t go back to rewatch a play without this message  “fast forward has been disabled by the broadcaster“

TSN has told me this is a Telus issue? So who is correct?

  • I haven't experienced this on any recorded show. I've only seen it if I restart a show from the guide or rewind a live show. That is the expected behavior based on most licensing agreements with the content owners.

  • I mostly notice this on Global live and recorded.

Live when I restart cannot fast forward and recorded, no fast forward from the start. Made worse by the 2-3 minutes at the beginning watching the end of the last show.

I have stop the program to answer the phone or what ever I come back and I cant fast forward thru the commericials or catch up to live TV. Absolutly frustrating!

If this is how broadcasters are going to act well I am done with them.

I wont have this service by the end of next week if this isnt resolved. I am done with these broadcasters and CRTC.

If you are pausing a live program you will not be able to fast forward. That is the expected behavior. You can jump to live by holding the Exit button and selecting Live when the menu pops up.

I believe this is related to the content and not necessarily the broadcaster. This has been reported on both Telus and Rogers devices and typically has to do with licensing for the show in question.

I dont belive this is licensing it has been happeing on every program TSN and all their channels?

This is a policy of that TSN(aka Bell) that I belive was implemented to stop recorded and live programming form fast forwarding.

TSN has told me this is a Telus issue and they sent me a web page for Telus help.

If this is the case what is the point of a PVR? And if TSN can get away with this then where does it stop?

      But thanks for the reply.

I just recorded CFL playoffs in 30 on TSN1. I have no issues fast-forwarding the program.
