PVR Recordings
I'm about to up-grade my cable/PVR box but don't want to lose some of the recordings on it. Is there any way to transfer the recordings on my Telus PVR to a thumb drive or external hard drive
Unfortunately that's not possible as the data is encrypted.

Coud try this option but it’s costly, presuming the pvr output is hdmi.
Also no guarantee.Get a stand alone HDMI to USB recorder and a 1 into 2 splitter.
From pvr out to in of splitter. Splitter outputs to in of tv and recorder.
Can leave the tv running while recording -or- set up turn off before starting to record.
if turn of while recording can cause bad output- ExEmpOrganizer
Update: Output usually mp4 and can play on smart tv media player or any pc.

If you have one of the older PVRs with the hard drive in it, no. The recordings are encrypted and are only playable on the box they were recorded on.
