Cancelling smarthome security after contract expires

Has anyone cancelled the smart home security service AFTER the contract expires?

Wondering if anyone has experience with cameras they purchased, were you able to connect to a new service?

Did you have to pay any fees to have Telus equipment removed?  

Any advice or info is appreciated.  🙂
