Fraudulent Agent Issue
The short story is that I was called by someone claiming to be a Telus agent offering a phone plan promo in August (780-455-8931). We were literally in the market to get new phones so I asked about purchasing new phones to go with the plan, and a Galaxy watch too. She emailed some details from [email protected] and called back the next day 705-881-5080. Unfortunately an entire fiasco has ensued since then so I can't even tell how much of it is real, how much is fraud or if it's all just complete and utter incompetence. So far we did in fact wind up with the 2 new phones we wanted and my Koodo account being closed and our phone numbers being ported. But the long story is that the entire process included wrong items being delayed, undelivered, or delivered and having to be shipped back, multiple phone lines being created and registered to me on a business mobility contract for a business that I don't own or even exists (but it's named on a billing statement!) on an account that access keeps being lost, unauthorized withdrawls from my credit card (to the tune of $780), contracts that are not what I agreed to, and outstanding and inaccurate balances. My total number of "Telus" agents I've spoken to so far is 4 and a fraud form was even submitted by the last agent back on September 23. I have not heard back from anyone, not client care or the fraud department and still have no resolution. What I DO have however is a business account with 4 lines and contracts on 4 new phones and an "overdue" bill posting on my credit report now. Does anyone think these scams are done on the inside by actual Telus employees? I mean usually scammers just want your personal info and your credit card... they don't usually also set up your new phones and port numbers do they? The amount of correspondence I've had is mind-blowing and elaborate so I just don't get it!hvdinn10 hours agoFriendly Neighbour128Views0likes11CommentsLoyalty Offer = Double my current plan?
I've had my current phone since 2018. It works great but it's starting to have issues charging, but nothing having a charging bank in my bag won't help with. Telus is offering me "loyalty rewards" options to upgrade my phone (I have been with Telus for 15+ years). I found a phone I liked, but the lowest plan for any new phone is double what my current plan is with less services? I only started this plan 2 years ago when they offered it to me. How the heck do they call doubling your plan in two years a "reward for loyalty"? Also trying access any customer service is near impossible - support won't even load in the app?38Views0likes1CommentSIM Card in MBR1210 NETGEAR router
I have this MBR1210 "Mibile HSPA + Broadband 11n Wireless Router" that can accomodate a SIM card so presumably I can install it at the cottage where there are no land lines and get internet trough my TELUS SIM card. I thought I could just pop in my new TELUS SIM card and it would work, but There are a lot of saettings, and it didn't 'just work' when I popped in the SIM card. Has anyone gotten this to work, or can offer advice?SolvedEskimo0072 days agoFriendly Neighbour40Views0likes7CommentsTRAVEL PASS is not real
All though Telus' webpage says the Easy Roam Travel pass is available it is not. Only option is to pay the $18/day for Europe.. When I finally got a callback from the support line; the only they could tell is that the webpage is not up to date and the EASY pass is no longer availablemgadde2 days agoNeighbour13Views0likes0CommentsLest expensive way/plan to use 2 phones in Mexico for 3 days
My wife and I will be spending a couple of days in Mexico City attending the "Dia de Muertos". There will be crowds with millions, yes millions of people. We need a 3 day plan for each of us in case we get seperated in the crowds. I could buy Mexican sim cards and very affordable Mexico phone plans as a last resort; but would rather have my own phone number for contacts from tour companies hotels, etc. Can not seem to find anything that works real well on the Telus WebSite. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.dolezsar2 days agoNeighbour19Views0likes2CommentsMobile Hotspot Routers - any feedback on NETGEAR Nighthawk M6 Pro?
There are two amazon.ca reviews from Canada for this Mobile Hotspot Router. One reviewer ('AMN' ... 01NOV23) recommends an ext. ant. (the device has 2 x TS-9 Connectors) .. the other reviewer ('Talys' ... 15JUL25) goes into much more detail, closing with: "Currently, in Canada, I'm not sure that there is any mmWave; TELUS is only on Sub-6." This 21JUN25 reddit post talks about: "Right now only Telus has SA & the speeds are worse than LTE in the 2010s, nobody has enabled the 5G voice codec, & MM wave isn't even on any carriers timeline. Aside from 600Mhz which for the most part only Roger's has, my phone experience is worse than it was in 2018 with LTE" ... I found some of the follow-up replies to the above reddit post to be interesting. I can find no ref. to this MHR h/w in this forum nor anything about the 5G mmWave spec here or on the TM website. This MHR likely isn't my answer (my proposed usage case to follow as an Edit, or, as a thread Reply), given the current TM wireless plans offered, however, this approach seems more realistic now than ever before. HI GUys; I'm hitting my head against the walls here. I recently added three BYOD mobility devices to my account. The gentleman who made the deal was awesome. I received my SIM cards then called in to activate the SIM cards and port my numbers from another company, it all took like 30 minutes and i was done. Now the bad part, upon checking my first bill. i saw Telus charging me for 6 lines instead of 3, basically they are charging me for the temporary numbers they assigned to me when i signed the contract. I called the support line for no avail and their answer was "Well that's how it is". i mean if they charged me for a day or two for the temporary numbers i would understand it, bit to charge me for the next full month is something i've never seen before.hasarian3 days agoNeighbour27Views0likes1CommentOld number shows to some contacts after porting
So I signed up to Telus and got assigned a number, then I ported my Koodo number over into this new Telus account. Confirmed the port, account shows the Koodo number, and I can call and text that number. But some of my contacts when I text them, it shows the original assigned number by Telus. Why is that so? But when I call that number, it says number is not in service. Note this is happening to some contacts, not all. And its been over a month since the port.markmoje3 days agoNeighbour2.6KViews0likes5Comments
