How to keep prepaid sim number if no activity at all

Hi All

So i will be leaving Canada in a couple months and i was thinking of buying a prepaid sim and keeping to use after i return but i do have a few questions.

So if i don't use the prepaid sim at all like no calls or messages for a certain amount of time, will that deactivate the card?

What if i top up off every month, will that be able to keep the number active?

I would like to have a active number once i land back in Canada after a few years.

You will need to keep the SIM active by topping up your account regularly. You do not need to use the SIM in a phone during the time away. If this is important to you, I suggest buying the annual plan, and topping up each year.
