A master reset restores the original factory settings and may delete your personal data on the internal storage, such as downloaded content, ringtones, images, apps, and contacts. It does not delete data stored on the SIM card or SD card.

 

To perform a master reset, follow these steps:

 

  1. Back up all data on the internal memory. [link step to How to's for Back up & restore]
  2. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  3. Tap System settings.
  4. Tap General, scroll to 'PERSONAL.' 
  5. Tap Backup & reset.
  6. Tap Factory data reset.
  7. Tap Reset phone.
  8. Tap Erase everything.
  9. Review the warning, and then tap OK
    Important: During the master reset, do not remove the battery.

 

 

Master reset with hardware keys

If the device menus are frozen or unresponsive, you can master reset using hardware keys. To perform a master reset, follow these steps:

 

  1. Back up all data on the internal memory. [link step to How to's for Back up & restore]
  2. Power off the device.
  3. At the same time, press and hold the following keys for 8 seconds:
  • Power key
  • Home key
  • Volume down key
  1. When the 'FACTORY HARD RESET' screen displays, release the keys.
  2. Press the Power key to confirm the reset. The master reset will automatically start.
